Dear COVA Families,
In order to help better meet your student’s educational needs, COVA requires all students in grades 3 - 8 to take the Performance Series assessments for the areas of reading and math. Students in grades 5 and 8 are also required to take the science assessment. Results from the Performance Series Assessments will then be used during the month of September to create an Individualized Learning Plan for each student.
Since the Performance Series assessments are adaptive (adjusts based on student answers), questions will progressively become more difficult. Progressive assessments give teachers insight into what concepts students have mastered across several grade levels. Please encourage your student do his/her best and to take breaks. Students should not complete all of the required assessments in one sitting. Consider having your student take one assessment each day within the testing window.
Please carefully read the information below and do not hesitate to ask questions.
