How long should I spend doing the Barton Program with my student?
In order for a student to make progress in the Barton Program they should spend at least 2 hours a week, but no more than an hour at a time. If you have a 7th grader who is further behind the more time you spend the quicker he will get caught up. On the other hand, if you have a kindergartner it would be very appropriate to spend less time each day. A schedule that works well for most families is pending 30 minutes a day give or take a few minutes. Once you get started, you will find that there are natural breaks in the lessons. So some days it might make sense to do it for 40 minutes and other days 25 minutes would be sufficient.
How long will it take my Barton student to get through all 10 levels?
Because all students are different and range from mild to severe it is impossible to answer this question exactly; however, as a guideline if you have a student who is moderate and they do the Barton Program for 2 hours a week, they should be through all 10 levels in 2 1/2 years.
